13.Jan.2011 Tokyo Disneyland, Asakusa and My First Capsule Hotel

The order of my post is a bit off actually I was in Tokyo before I went to Osaka. I went to Tokyo from the brand new Shinkansen station in Shichonohe and went all the way to Tokyo. The Shinkansen rides are a bit expensive, but they’re quiet and quite comfortable. There’s also no customs [...]

Tsutenkaku, Hep 5 Shopping Center Osaka Japan

A cool spot in Osaka was the Tsutenkaku which is a giant Hitachi Tower. Its located in Shinsekai and surrounded by some cool shopping centers. Also I had some really good kushikatsu which are like meat, or vegetables on a stick. The tower itself was okay if I had the choice I don’t think I [...]

Osaka World Trade Center and Aquarium

The World Trade Center (WTC) seemed like a bit of an unlucky title after for this building. Regardless of that though its a great spot to get a view of the whole city. The WTC is located way the heck west of the center of Osaka, but was still an easy subway ride away. From [...]

Umeda Sky Tower Osaka Japan

Another sight in Osaka was the Umeda Sky Tower. If you take the subway to the Umeda station, its about a 10 minute walk to the sky tower. It was a little sketchy getting there at first thought because you have to walk around a construction zone and cross through this 200 m tunnel to [...]

Dotonbori Osaka Japan

Dotonbori is one of the liveliest spots in Osaka. There was never a shortage of things to do there, and along the main strip there was a plethora of restaurants, nightclubs, and every manner of shopping one could possibly imagine. Also some cool sights in the area were the famous Glico Man, mechanical crab and [...]

12.Jan.2011 Tennoji Zoo, Shitennoji Temple, Tennoji Ku

I did some sightseeing on my last few days around the Tennoji ku, or ward area. It was an easy subway ride to get to the zoo and that’s where I started my day. The zoo was cheap but mostly geared toward elementary kids. I also thought some of the cages could have been a [...]

Hakodate Trip Photos

Here are the photos from a trip I did with my co-workers at the Board of Education to Hakkodate in Hokkaido. Probably the highlight of the trip had to be the delicious seafood as well as the seafood don, crab buns, and squid ink ice cream!

06.Dec.2010 December

Getting ready for December. It’s going to be very busy. There are a whole ton of different work events that I will be going to this month. Not to mention an office trip to Hokkaido coming up. Also with Karate and trying to plan my trip to Tokyo things may be a bit busy.

JLPT N4

This weekend I took the JLPT N4 with some of the JETs from Towada, and Shichinohe. Also there were a lot of people from the prefecture there as anyone wanting to write the JLPT in Aomori Ken had to do so in Morioka and only Morioka… This is a little inconvenient, but it did offer [...]

03.Dec.2010 First Newspaper Article

Here is my first newspaper article. The Daily Tohoku article was the second article I did. The first one was for a once a month newspaper edited, and owned by my interviewer. The interview itself was quite an experience. I did it with one of the JETs from my town. The JET from my towns [...]

Daily Tohoku Article

Last week I was interviewed for a regional newspaper called The Daily Tohoku. This was a really cool experience because this newspaper is fairly well read and I think it’s a great way to introduce some of the foreign language teachers to the community. The interview itself was really cool and my supervisor did an [...]

29.Nov.2010 Hirosaki Halloween Party

I went to a Halloween party in Hirosaki city. Some of the mount Hakkoda photos I took were on the way to this party. My costume was totally unoriginal I went for the Harry Potter look with lightning bolt and chopstick wand. Some of the other JETs costumes were way cooler and one person went [...]

Oirase Machi Salmon Festival

This was a lot of fun. Rianna one of the JETs in Towada city hooked us up with some tickets for only around 10 dollars Canadian to catch salmon. It was really cool and probably the best 10 dollars I’ve ever spent. It involved a giant flatbed truck dumping a whole load of live salmon [...]

My 自己紹介 Self Introduction to 三本木小 Sanbongi Elementary School

I did a self introduction that will be published in a school newspaper for an elementary school in my catchment area. To put my job in perspective I have around 20 elementary and junior high schools that I visit regularly. Sanbongi is special because it is (a) near my house (b) is my semi-base school [...]

Driving through Hakkoda

Here are some photos I took from a second drive over to Hirosaki, where I passed through mount Hakodda. At that time the snow had already fallen and it was freezing!
